Meet our Team!

Primary Care Providers

Currently all of our Primary Care Providers are Family Nurse Practitioners - NP(F)s.

Nurse Practitioners are registered health professionals with a graduate-level university education who can provide a broad range of primary health care services.

They can diagnose and treat most health issues, order labs and diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, fill out forms, and refer patients to specialists when required.

Once you are attached to a Nurse Practitioner at Cumberland Village Health Care, that NP becomes your Primary Care Provider and will care for your health needs across your lifespan. Please click on each NP name below to read their bios!

  • Crystal (Crissy) was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley. She and her family spent a number of years living in Southeastern BC, however the pull of the ocean brought them back to the Island, and she has called the Comox Valley home since 2018. Crissy has worked in nursing for over 20 years, and as a Nurse Practitioner since 2017. Her approach to healthcare is rooted in empathy and a patient-centered philosophy, believing in building strong, trusting relationships with patients and families to ensure they receive the best possible care tailored to their individual needs. When not at work, she can be found in the backyard with her plants and animals, or out on the beach combing for hidden treasures.

  • Jaime has called the Comox Valley home since 2011 and has been working as a Nurse Practitioner since 2014. Passionate and dedicated to improving access to the highest quality of primary care, she worked on both provincial and local levels with this goal in mind. She is a firm believer in true collaborative care between providers and is excited to be joining this amazing team. When not working, you can find her enjoying time outdoors with her family, whether in the water or on the ski trails.

  • Emily grew up in the lower mainland and recently became a resident of Vancouver Island in 2023. She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2016 and is passionate about providing accessible primary care services across the lifespan. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs in the outdoors, from hiking to skiing and surfing. She is excited to be a member of the Cumberland Village Health Care team and the Comox Valley community!

  • Brittany is thrilled to be a member of the Cumberland Village Health Care team. She is a fifth-generation Vancouver Islander originally from Ladysmith. In 2005, while Brittany was contemplating a career in finance, the first class of nurse practitioners graduated in British Columbia. During this time Brittany’s grandmother, an avid newspaper enthusiast, would routinely clip segments on nurse practitioners from the Times Colonist and place them on Brittany’s nightstand. Fast-forward to 2010, at which time Brittany graduated from Vancouver Island University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing [with distinction] and aspirations to pursue a career as a family nurse practitioner. Brittany worked at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in the surgical, rehabilitation, acute medicine, and pain programs while also instructing in the Faculty of Health and Human Services at Vancouver Island University. In 2020, Brittany graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia’s Master of Science in Nursing- Family Nurse Practitioner program. Brittany is a passionate and driven individual who enjoys primary care as it provides variation across the lifespan. Her special interests include technology in health care and chronic disease management. Brittany resides in the central island area with her partner and two golden retrievers. When not in-office, Brittany can be found exploring local hiking and mountain biking trails, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, trying new local restaurants, attempting new culinary/baking creations, and catching up on current events with the weekend edition of the Globe and Mail.

  • Stephanie is a Cree-Metis Nurse Practitioner focused on delivering quality, holistic, and culturally safe primary care. She has over ten years of experience as an RN in education and critical care settings. Stephanie recently graduated from the University of Victoria with her Master of Nursing degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Stephanie was born and raised in Cumberland; after temporarily relocating for education and work, she is back in her hometown, excited to serve her community. Outside the office, she spends time with her family, travelling and exploring our local forests and oceans.

Clinic Staff

In addition to our Primary Care Providers, Medical Office Assistants support the practice. Each staff member is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a safe and welcoming environment. Please click on each name below for staff bios.

  • Knykyta is originally from Victoria, she moved to the Comox Valley in 2016 and considers it home. In her off time, you can either find her exploring the island with her 5-year-old dog named Maui or she is holed up at home making crochet granny squares. Knykyta feels incredibly grateful to work with such an amazing team and is excited to see how the clinic grows and progresses in the years to come.

  • Ashley is originally from a small town in Northern Ontario – she has travelled all over Canada, but once she visited Cumberland in 2009, she immediately knew that this was the place she wanted to call home. In her downtime, you can find Ashley at the ice rink playing hockey, exploring local hiking trails, or at the lake paddling and swimming. Ashley also loves crafting and snuggling with her two cats, Nimbus and Noxx – being a cozy cat mom is Ashley’s favourite pastime. Ashley has worked as a medical office administrator for over 10 years, she is very happy to work with a stellar team and be able to provide a welcoming and positive experience to the patients at CVHC.

Allied Health Providers

Our clinic currently offers referrals to our Registered Dietitian, Lydia, and our Social Worker, Susanna. Two more Allied Health Providers will be joining us soon, so stay tuned.

  • Lydia has practised dietetics since 2008 in both Alberta and BC with a focus on chronic disease prevention and management. Her experience comes from working in primary care, public health, kidney care and more recently in diabetes education in Campbell River. She has worked for Island Health for twelve years and lived in the Comox Valley for six years. She is working towards obtaining designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Lydia greatly enjoys supporting her clients and colleagues to achieve optimal health and when not working she loves cooking and spending time in her garden with her family. She is looking forward to developing and facilitating group nutrition education sessions and cooking classes for the PCN and working within the clinics with the multidisciplinary team.
